Campus Cat Program

The Problem

Baylor’s campus is home to a growing population of feral cats. Since these cats are not tamed, their population size is not under control.

The Solution

To control the population, the Campus Cat Program employs the

Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) method.

TNR has been used safely and effectively by many communities across the country for years. Cats are humanely trapped, neutered, and then released in the same location as they were trapped after recovery.

In addition to the surgical procedure, cats also receive a rabies vaccine and an “ear tip”. An ear tip indicates that the cat has been neutered and does not need to be trapped again.

Trapping

PVMA humanely traps community cats on campus and transports them to and from Animal Birth Control Clinic that we partnered with.

Neutering

Once at Animal Birth Control Clinic, a licensed veterinarian performs the spay or neuter surgery and gives the rabies vaccine.

Releasing

After a 24-hour recovery period, the cats are transported back to campus and released.
